Modules 1 & 2
Starting Your Clay Adventure
Begin by getting to know the heart of handbuilding and the joyful, playful approach to working with clay. You'll explore the different types of clay, get to grips with your essential tools, and learn the little foundations that set you up for success, from wedging and managing moisture to drying your pieces properly and fixing small cracks.
Modules 3 & 4
Building Your Skills & Learning the Essentials
Dive into the core techniques that bring your pieces to life, from pinching and slab building to joining your pieces and keeping your walls nice and even. You'll even get comfortable centering on a banding wheel and trimming for a clean finish. From there, we'll cover the essentials of surface decoration and glazing, so you've got all the know-how ready for when we put it into practice in the projects later on.
Modules 5 & 6
Your First Projects: Functional & Fun
Now it's time to bring your skills to life! You'll start by making your very own paint palette and brush holder, shaping, hollowing, and decorating them just the way you like. Then you'll move on to crafting mini pinched cups, from little glaze cups to a larger water cup, refining and decorating each one along the way.
Modules 7, 8 & 9
Adding Personality & Bringing It All to Life
You'll start by creating a handy paint tube brush rest and personalizing it to keep your brushes and tubes neatly within reach. Then it all comes together as you glaze each of your projects, putting everything you've learned into practice and watching your creations truly come to life.
